By the founding day of the International Organization for Standardization ISO, by the date of foundation February 23, 1947. I would like to remember the very history of the creation of this organization. Back in 1946, in the city of London (UK), 65 delegates from 25 countries arrived at a meeting and discussed plans to create a standardization organization that became the International Organization for Standardization, the result of the meeting was the official establishment of ISO in 1947, the commission included 67 different technical committees (which also included experts in the approved subjects of the areas of activity).
In May 1952, the publication of a magazine was launched containing information on various standards, data on members and administrative changes in the organization.
But the real recognition of the organization started in 1970, the Secretary General Olle Sturren set the task of becoming an international organization, which resulted in the participation of representatives of such countries as Australia, Japan and China, the number of international participants in the secretariat of the organization was 25 nationalities. From 1947 to the present, the membership of the International Organization for Standardization has 163 members and more than 21,000 standards.
